Roya Sabbagh Novin has been research assistant in Human and Robot Interaction Laboratory (TaarLab) since fall 2012 to persue her graduate studies as a Master of Science student in Mechatronics Engineering at University of Tehran, Iran. Her current areas of interest include human and robot interaction, control systems, path planning, bio-ispired and medical robotics.
She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (SUT), in 2011. Meanwhile, she has been project assistant in Research Center of Science and Technologyun Medicine (RCSTM) at Imam Khomeini hospital, Tehran, Iran. Where she got involved in two outstanding projects, a surgery assistant robot called "Robolense" and a hand rehabilitation robotic device named as "Wrist Robohab".
Her current research focuses on the path planning of mobile robots and redundant manipulators in the presence of obstacles, using convex optimization and model predictive control concept.
Besides her master project she has developed a novel and systematic algorithm for parallel robots free-singulartity workspace determination called "Progressive Growing Neural Gas Network (PGNGN)" which covers all parallel robots regardless of their complexity.
She has recieved the outstanding student reward as ranked 1st place among the Mechatronic Engineering students throughout M.Sc. at University of Tehran.
Outside the lab, Roya loves fine art especially oil painting. She is also interested in playing table tennis.
